Jasmine Dawson's Art
This heart-stopping piece of art arrived in my mail last week. Jasmine "Jazzy Bear" Dawson is a descendant of Isaac Williams, a man my Uncle Brit Williams, then his heirs, enslaved until he was freed by Abraham Lincoln in 1865.  Jasmine, an accomplished artist, graduated from Georgia State University in June.  Her grandmother, Deborah Daniels Dawson, has been by my side on this book promotion project from Day One, always there with her family, her family history, her camera, her smile, and her words of wisdom. She hesitated to discuss the subject of lynching with Jasmine, nervous as to how she'd deal with it.  This is what Jasmine did with it. What will you do with it?
